Our School

Evans Bay Intermediate School (EBIS) is a multi-cultural school specialising in the learning needs of Year 7 and 8 students.

We opened in 1964 and continue to cater for students in the Southern and Eastern suburbs.

Our school is well governed by a dedicated Board of Trustees and fully staffed by an enthusiastic team who strive to implement the School’s vision, mission and values.

Our school is set in a picturesque location overlooking Evans Bay, with many great facilities nearby such as the ASB Stadium, Newtown Park Stadium, Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre and the Kilbirnie Library, all of which are used for school activities.

Our Educational Environment

Our staff work to create a school:

Where students feel safe, happy and secure and have the maximum opportunity to learn.

Where students can develop the skills, knowledge and attitudes which enable them to become worthwhile, happy, fulfilled, caring individuals.

Where students are given clear boundaries of acceptable behaviour and where guidance and discipline are consistent.

Where students are not only encouraged to think but taught to think and process information in meaningful ways.

Which provides both depth and variety in our programmes.
