After school sports

Term 2, Season dates (April 30th – June 25th) - 9 weeks

Every Wednesday afternoon from 3.30-5.30pm at Kilbirnie Recreation Centre, there is a new Junior volleyball league starting.

TEAMS:

Y7/8 teams consist of approx. 8 players, with 6 players on a court at one time and 2 x reserves.

UNIFORM:

Each player must wear their EBIS PE uniform including shirt, shorts and socks.  

TRAINING:

Some training will be provided during the first two sessions of volleyball

DATES and TIMES:

Wednesday from 3.30-5.30pm (April 30th – June 25th) - 9 weeks

FEES:

$35/ player

Payment can be made via your child's 'class room cash box' or via Kindo (once teams have been confirmed) from the school website portal.

TERM: 2,  (Thursday, 8th May 2025 - Thursday, 19th June 2025)

The Badminton Wellington Inc Inter-School Challenge is a tournament played each week against other local schools at the Badminton Wellington Centre.

SCHEDULE:  

• Week 1: Lessons & Grading

• Week 2-7: Matches

• Week 8: Fun Tournament  

Ties will consist of 6 matches. 3 singles and 3 doubles.

Each tie will be played in ascending order starting with singles.

Each player/pair will play against the corresponding player/pair from the opposing team e.g.

team 1 no. 2 singles vs. team 2 no. 2 singles.

UNIFORM:

Students wear black shorts, black socks and their EBIS PE top. Sports shoes are required to suit the court surface.

TRAINING:

Teams can arrange for training times in the school hall.

EQUIPMENT:

The Badminton Association supply racquets and shuttlecocks but the students can use their own racquets if they have them.

Y7/8 IPL (Advanced) - FRIDAYS

• Dates: 2 May – 27 June (Please note: no game on 20 June)

• Time: 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM

• Venue: Ākau Tangi Sports Centre (formerly ASB Centre)

Beginners/ Intermediate Players - WEDNESDAY

• Grade: Y7/8

• Date: 30 Apr - 25 Jun

• Time: 4.00pm - 6pm

• Venue: Ākau Tangi Sports Centre

• Season: 9 Weeks

UNIFORM:

• EBIS PE top

• EBIS uniform black shorts and socks

• Numbered EBIS team singlet (issued to IPL team players)

EQUIPMENT:

• Suitable sports shoes for indoor court surfaces

TRAINING:

Teams are responsible for organising their own training sessions outside of game times.

TRANSPORT:

Students will need to make their own way to and from the Ākau Tangi Sports Centre for games.

FEES:

• $90 per player for the Term 2 IPL Friday league

• $70 per player for the Term 2 Mixed Grade Wednesday league

Annual Player Levy

From 1 January 2025, an annual Basketball Development Levy of $5 for 14-year-olds and under has been introduced across New Zealand. 

Please use the following link to complete this payment prior to the first game, and use the team code below to complete registration. 

TRAINING:

• Students meet in the school office at 12:25 PM.

• We leave the school grounds at 12:30 PM to head to the pool.

• Pool entry is at 12:40 PM, and students return to school at approximately 1:20 PM.

FEES:

• The cost is $60 per term, which covers pool hire for training sessions.

• Payment details will be shared soon, depending on final numbers and interest.

Please note:

Each student will need to bring their own admission fee for Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre (WRAC) for every session they attend. This cost is separate from the Swim Club fee and must be paid individually each week.

Where:

Evans Bay Yacht Club and Evans Bay Marina (weather dependent)

When:

Every Wednesday, 3:15 – 4:15 PM, starting Week 1 of Term 2

Cost:

$135 for the term

What to Bring:

Towel

Sunblock

Swimming togs

Wetsuit (if you have one — we can provide wetsuits for those who need them)

This activity takes place outside of school hours at 3.15pm. Students will make their own way down to Evans Bay Marina on Wednesday afternoons after school finishes. I will ask them to meet in the foyer and they will then walk down together to meet the instructor.

Parents are more than welcome to attend and watch.

TRAININGS:

Training sessions are held on Tuesday mornings, from 7:30 AM to 8:15 AM, at the Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre (WRAC).
Please note: This time is still awaiting final confirmation from WRAC.

FEES:

• $60 per player per term

  Please note:
  All students are also required to pay their own WRAC pool entry fee for each training session, which is separate from the player fee.
