Netball takes place each Saturday morning in Terms 2 and 3. There are usually 9 teams that take part in this out of hours activity. Girls and boys are able to play Saturday morning netball.


EBIS has a history of success when it comes to Badminton. With Badminton Hall just a quick walk up the road from the School, this is a great after school activity for students in Terms 2 and 3. Many students who first take up badminton at EBIS have continued on to represent Wellington in this great sport.

All members of the teaching assist with this after school sport.

Inter - Intermediate Sports

The Wellington Intermediate Schools combine for sporting fixtures throughout the school year. Each term there are different events that students are able to compete in. Staff at the School coach students in preparation for these wonderful days out. Sports that they can take part in include: Touch Rugby, Netball, Softball, Swimming, Cross Country, Athletics, Soccer, Basketball and Volleyball to name just a few.

Variety Sport

Every alternate year, students take part in a programme called Variety Sport. Here students get to try out a new sporting code. This includes activities like Aerobics, Biking and Roller blading.


Instead of going off to camp every alternate year, students at EBIS do an EOTC Week. This week gives students a variety of different places to go within the Wellington Region. The purpose of this week is to get our students to become more knowledgeable about places that they can visit around Wellington.

This take place in even years. ie. 2014, 2016, ...

Fusion Group

The School has a very strong Kapa Haka/Poly Club. The number of students who are involved in this can be as many as 60 at any one time. Time for this is programmed into the students normal school day and is on Wednesday each week. Two members of staff are involved with the coaching and tutoring of the Polyclub. This group performs at the Schools “Mid Year Extravaganza” and they also perform in the final concert for the year “Night of Speaking with the Arts”. During the year they also have the opportunity to go out and perform in local schools in the area.


Every week the Choir meets to work on things that they will perform in both the mid year and end of year concerts. The number of students involved in the Choir is usually around 50 – 60 students.


The school has a talented band. Like the other performance groups at the School, they perform in both the mid year and end of year concerts. They participate in inter-school challenges. They also go out and perform for our contributing schools.
