“The more you read, the more you will know, the more you know, the more places you’ll go. (Dr Seuss)

I have been privileged to be a Parent representative on the EBIS Board of Trustees for two previous terms. I live in Lyall Bay and all three of my children, now teenagers) and a foster son, were pupils of Evans Bay. The experiences my children had and my personal passion for seeing young people grow and develop, academically and personally, was and still is my primary motivation for standing again. Many of the students, past and present that I have been fortunate to meet are proud, compassionate and well-rounded young citizens.

In the time I have been on the Board we have seen Evans Bay grow enormously, new buildings, new staff, a new Principal, and new opportunities for students: including digital technologies, and an ever expanding range of educational, cultural, sporting and community focused activities. I consider Evans Bay Intermediate to be an integral part of the local community, and wish to see the connections to our community grow even stronger.

I believe in positive partnerships between school and home, and all that entails, to be the key to student and the schools’ success.

I am excited to be taking on the role of  Deputy Chairperson, working alongside a very committed and enthusiastic BoT and an amazingly talented teaching team, assisting Louise in achieving great things at EBIS for our students.

Mr Grant Bensley

I have lived in Miramar with my wife and son since 2002. I have been keen to get more involved in supporting the community so I was very pleased to be elected onto the Evans Bay Intermediate School board. I am the head of production at Weta Workshop and I have been working at Weta for the last 10 years.

I look forward to being able to use my skills and experience in business and project management to support the Evans Bay Intermediate School management for the best outcomes for the students.

 Ms Louise Bray-Burns

I am very proud to be the current principal of Evans Bay Intermediate. I have held this position since the start of term 3, 2015, having previously been the Principal of two other schools.

I have a huge passion and belief in the importance of Intermediate schooling and the things we are able offer our year 7 and 8 children, which no other type of school is set up exclusively to do. I love working with the staff at EBIS as our Board has been very careful to select an extremely dedicated, caring and competent staff to support the children in our care. As a Board we are proud that EBIS is indeed the school to expand the horizons of your child during their intermediate years.

Mr Karl Emson

I have been the Staff Representative on the board since January of 2014. I am a full time classroom teacher in Room 3 and the Team Leader of Uru one of the five teams at EBIS. I am passionate about our students and their learning.
